Were you there at the Awesome Possum Bazaar at Subang Square the past weekend 4th & 5th July 2009?

:D :D :D

Well I wassssss!

Like I have blogged previously, my online shop, RylDesigns was gonna open a booth in the bazaar. So obviously I attended. Along with sister Lynn and Nick, and the bf JitZ. :)

That’s the set up of my booth.

And not forgetting also….

Yesss! We made it ourselves! From sawing the wood, to nailing each piece together, and to painting it! And I even painted the racks using our corporate blog colours; Pink, orange, green and blue!

It’s not thaaaat stable like those racks u get from Ikea or any furniture shop lahh, it’s a lil’ wobbly. HAHA. But I don’t care, I’m still very proud with my woodwork okay =p

Okay a few pictures time. Enjoy!

Like retard I swear. Lulz.

Okay. Review time.

How was Awesome Possum Bazaar I hear you ask?

IMHO, it was pretty awesome. Really! I personally think the organizers were very well-prepared and organized. They handled everything just well enough, and were also very friendly to us. The arrangement and settings of the whole bazaar, tables and chairs were all also well coordinated.

Now about the crowd. This bazaar was a 2-day bazaar thing, both Saturday and Sunday. So the crowd on Saturday was pretty good. I could see continuous flow of crowd coming in, though the organizers did mention to us that they actually expected a bigger crowd than that.

We’ll I was fine with Saturday’s crowd and settled with what was best that could have happened anyways.
.
.
However, the crowd on Sundaaaaaaaaaaaay, sighhh. Quite disappointing lah I have to say. I actually already had this worry for Sunday crowds and all, but thought maybe I should try for once, since I’ve never opened a booth on Sundays before.

Sunday’s crowd was pretty dead. I suppose it’s typical Sundays you know? Family day. Sunday schools. And what not. Oh and actually I also heard this bazaar date was clashing with Cheer 2009, so yeah.

Well it’s really nobody’s fault and no one to point fingers at for Sunday’s crowd. We vendors already had this thought in mind, and quite have already prepared for it. Heheee, so really no one to blame. Wai Jean, if you’re reading this, you don’t have to apologize about it, really! :D

I guess my lesson learnt it, not to open a booth on Sundays during a bazaar. Unless really hot spot areas like Bukit Bintang, Lot10, or you know, KL areas.

Overall, sales were good at Awesome Possum Bazaar! Thanks to those who came and supported us. Much appreciated :)

Thanks to Wai Jean and Reuben for making Awesome Possum Bazaar happen!

p/s: Thanks Lynn, Jitz and Nick for helping out on both the days (:
.
.
Okee dokee. Signing off. Ttfn.

Yours truly,
Cheryl, wants to go shopppingg!!

Have you heard of the Youthopia team?

Recently, Youthopia tried to organize a bazaar in Lot 10, KL. When I first saw the invitations and publicity on this event, I was thinking, “hmm, Lot10. wow not too bad, good traffic and what not”. So yeah.

They have been changing dates of when the bazaar would be for a few times, even during the early stages. Until FINALLY, when they have announced that the dates would be 13th & 14th June, and that was FINAL, no more changes, so that’s when I (RylDesigns) made the full payment to rent a booth for both days of the bazaar.

However, to our utter disappointment, Youthopia Team have YET AGAIN change the dates of the bazaar! From 13th to 14th June, to 20th & 21st June! And to make things even worse, some of us traders would be put outdoor.

Number 1, we traders came to an agreement with you and made full payments for the dates of 13th and 14th June 2009.

Number 2, it was also stated in the details and agreement of the event that it would be an INDOOR event.

Now that the event was postponed to 20th and 21st, we actually do have all rights to demand for a refund. However, the Organizers stated reasons that there was no choice and whatsoever due to the Lot10 Management and so on. So fine. I left that, and thought to give it a second chance, thinking to myself that how much worse can it get. They can’t be postponing it for the 4th time, can they?!?!?

BUT, I courteously requested for an indoor spot. And the reply I received from them was exactly these words:

Hi,

You guys will be placed indoor dont worry, even before we receive this email – your name was already in the indoor list. Take note ya.

Thanks.

Talk about friendliness? Pfft. Yea right!

How in the world am I suppose to know that I was ALREADY in the indoor list, when I receive NO updates whatsoever from the organizers!!

The only updates we received from Youthopia Team are updates on CHANGES OF DATES, NO LONGER AN INDOOR LOCATION, and everything negative, nothing positive.

I did not receive no floor plans, no list of who the other vendors were, how many participants, exactly the map of where the bazaar is, NOTHING. N-O-T-H-I-N-G!

Oh so we traders were suppose to just know all of these by ourselves? Are each and every one of us suppose to question and ask for these information from you organizers? Shouldn’t we be notified by the organizers? Isn’t this part of your responsibility?

And now, I am being told to “TAKE NOTE YA” for information that I was not told before hand, and was supposed to just SOMEHOW know it all myself?

Excellent.

How unprofessional.

Well fine, I left that as well. I was already taken aback with their attitude, and was just thinking to myself that I’m just gonna go on with the bazaar, do my sales, have fun, and not bother bout them. Main reason is, I’ve already got everything prepared for the bazaar. I took in so many new stocks, ordered and paid for numerous delivery charges just so the stocks would reach me in time before the event, informed all my customers, friends and followers to come support me, ALL just for this bazaar. So, yes.

Speaking about the changes on the location, that some traders would be placed outdoor, And Youthopia team have confidently assured me without doubt for an indoor location, and don’t forget I was also told to TAKE NOTE YA that I was already in the indoor list, AND after I have NOTED their reply, this was the next update we traders received from Youthopia Organizers:

*Now everyone is outdoor!
Isetan has invaded the whole floor inside the mall for their SALE – the management has pushed them to occupy the space on the same date with our event to make up for the 2 weeks maintenance (remember an email on this?) that took place at the mall. So we have no choice to move everyone under the canopy.
Now now..we expect to receive comments like “But you guys said you will do insideeee….”, “But its very hot out there…”..”I have rashes and asthma…” and condemning us for not keeping our ‘promise’….but babes, think about this:

a) DO You want to make some sales?
b) DO You want visibility?
c) DO You want to turn the crowds head and lure them to check out your stuff?

If you want all this, then please give outdoor a try. Its not scorching hot as some of you would have thought – We’ve seen places like Soho that were outdoor and very hot too! We will have lights and fans install for you. Bring a handheld fan if you want or those battery operated mini fan that you can put on the table if you want extra breeze. Please bring own extension chord, long cable ones for those who rely on electricity to do business.

The best thing is, since Isetan is on sale, expect crowd peeps!! We’ve got feedbacks from DOME and Haagen Dasz that there are so many people on weekend as oppose to week days!

Its hard to keep in control on some authoritative matters that involves prominent malls like Lot 10 and its management – so please understand our position and respect that certain decisions were made by them because they own the place. If we own the place, you will get discounts peeps!

.
.
HA-HA?

I am very highly let down with their inefficiency and unethical attitude. I do not see how this is going to be an acceptable act from the Organizers.

You know, it’s funny how the updates on “Everyone is now outdoor” is off more than 500 words, but there was not even a single simple “Sorry” in it. I do not see that Youthopia Team have any sense of regret or remorse in causing uncountable inconveniences to us vendors, for uncountable times. I believe as organizers, you and your team have 100% responsibility to ensure that everything including from the planning of this event, to the progress of it, and to conducting this event out goes well. Being unable to do so already, you organizers have put off and totally let down many of us vendors as your clients.

And, since Isetan has been compensated from Lot 10 due to maintenance work, I’m sure them as organizers have been compensated as well. Funny thing is, instead of getting compensation, we are being downgraded!

Don’t you and your team have a sense of integrity to at least ask vendors if we are fine with it?

NEXT.

The day before the bazaar on June 20th, it was midnight already. I was still awake handling some stuffs for the bazaar the next day. And at 12:29:59am, MIDNIGHT, I received a SMS, and I was thinking who could it be, it’s already midnight?!

Youthopia Team -.-

Message delivered to me was exactly these words:

“We r sorry to inform u that the Lot10 event 20 n 21 June has been cancelled. We regret that we cant cope wit Lot 10 management unprofessional manner. Explaination is in email. Pls read ur email.”

WTFFFFFFF.

Exactly. W-T-F.

The email was:

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances – we were advised by Lot 10 management to postpone our event – YET AGAIN!

And due to this unprofessional manner, we have finally decided to cancel the event and refund monies to all of you. We do not want to postpone many times as this does not look good on us. And furthermore, we certainly do not want to keep you hanging around. You might as well use the refunded fees to join other events.

We apologize sincerely for the last minute cancellation for they only informed us today at approximately 8.30pm. If you ask us, yes, we’re very pissed. As we have reiterated many times – the venue is not ours – in the end it is their management’s decision. We have reasoned things out with them, that all our traders are already prepared, our buntings and postcards are ready, licenses have been applied and ready, even car park vouchers – but NO they said decision is final. We were speechless and decided NOT TO FURTHER our relationship with them. We rather take the blame, swallow the complaints and refund all monies. If we continue with them – we will have to face many more excuses upon excuses.

We have never expected to have worked with such a difficult party (and more over they are an established group in Malaysia!) and we regret this has affected you. We were greatly affected too! Think about our promotional marketing materials, marketing time and money spent on this! At least you can sell your items elsewhere – but ours are totally burnt. We made great loss too.

So from changes of dates, to more changes of dates, and more more changes of dates, to from indoor to everyone is now outdoor, and after all the hooha they’ve been making, the event is officially cancelled.

.
APPLAUSE, NO?

PFFFFFT.

Number 1, Youthopia Team mentioned that they rather take the blame and swallow the complaints. It is not you RATHER, you SHOULD.

Number 2, there has got to be a reason why Lot10 Management can push you and your team around so easily. Perhaps, No strong principles? Unprofessional? I don’t know. You tell us. Even if ASSUMING Lot10 Management are really very hard-to-deal-with people, then you and your team should have known from the very beginning. And I’ve read that you and your team actually already knew how tough it was handling things with Lot 10 Management, like you’ve said, you guys already “smelled” the trouble coming. But you and your team decided to carry on and not give up. I respect how you and your team are very motivated, but sometimes it is essential to analyze critically on what can be done, and what cannot be done. Especially when it is involving business, and REPUTATION.

Number 3, you and your team asked us to think about your party’s money spent on promotional materials and marketing time???????? Firstly, when anyone googles “Youthopia Bazaar Lot 10″, the results is simply disappointing. Even on free-cost media, there isn’t enough publicity from your party. Secondly, what hope do we have on those ads/publicity that would cost you money! We do not see any flyers or buntings or any form of visual advertisements around us promoting the bazaar apart from those ads online, which are also, not to mention, extremely few.

Because of you and your team being over ambitious and not considering opinions from traders, you have dragged so many of us down with you into all these havoc.

Have you guys read Youthopia Team’s collaboration with MUSA organizers, on how they were so upset and disappointed with MUSA organizers when co-organizing a bazaar together?

http://chics-closet.blogspot.com/2009/04/unpleasant-experience-that-was-not.html

It’s even funnier in this case, that how they are able to correct, point out and condemn MUSA Organizers’ mistakes and faults, but not realize they were too doing the same now for this bazaar at Lot 10.

If you as organizers cannot keep to your words, promises or agreements, how do you expect your customers to feel convinced and pleased with your organization? If you felt extremely frustrated, irritated and disappointed with the organizers from MUSA during that bazaar the other time, then I’d frankly like to tell you that is exactly how we and many other vendors feel about Youthopia.
.
.
What I am very displease is that after everything that has happened, and everything that them organizers have done, they still do not sincerely fully admit that they are wrong. It is clear how the full blame is being put on Lot 10 Management. Like people say, it’s no point forcing one to admit their wrong; because they will learn that way.

Also, in their latest update on their blog, they wrote their part of explaination of what had happened. And also told off to those who does not support them, and who were blaming them, and condemning them, to just take the refund, and go.

“Please do yourselves and ourselves a favour- dont join us – ever. Serious. We do not want to take your money either. We do not want to mislead you with empty promises that you will make big bucks or your stall will be swarmed with people who is dying to get your stuff when you join us. Dont do that. We do not want you to spam our chatbox later and accused us this & that. Dont waste your time”, said Youthopia Team.

What they wrote there, is just a nicer way of telling the traders who were let down by them for numerous times, to FCK OFF.

Well let me tell you this. We traders have all rights to be frustrated, disappointed and irritated with you organizers after time and time being let down by you and your team.

Simply UNETHICAL.

By the way, while I was googling for information on one of the Youthopia Organizers, I’ve found out that one of them had joined the Malaysian reality show, “The Firm” Season 1, and was terminated/eliminated in the First Episode itself, and was told off by Peter Pek,

Ethics in the real corporate world is very important – it’s paramount.

.
I suppose some people just never learn???
.
.
You know, my sister and I was furious, as in literally furious, on that midnight that were last minute told the event was cancelled. We were firing up, I swear.

There’s actually so much more that we can say now, but what’s the use of it. Now that days have passed, and my anger on this issue has toned down so much.

I’m fed up of this, and do not want to ever mention about this again after posting this up. I’m writing this and publishing it on World Wide Web because I do not like being stepped all over, and pretend that nothing has ever happened. If the opposite party would have been a little more sincere in apologizing and taking the blame, we traders would not feel as frustrated. They have not respected us from day 1. I am merely standing up for myself, and on behalf of the other traders who feel the same.
.
.
Yours truly,
Cheryl.

Oh my!

How I’ve missed all of you and my dear blog so. *grins*

I’m back from vacation, and I have so much to share! I’m getting all excited, for God knows why. Not quite a big deal anyways.

Well who’s up for some food? The clock’s hitting one now, it’s close to lunch time, which I haven’t had mine yet. I’m starving. But who cares? Scratch that, I’m gonna post on all the food I had in Ipoh!

So as you know, my family and I stopped by Ipoh before reaching Penang as we were coming from KL to satisfy our grumbling tummies at that time with some Ipoh Prawn Mee, WHITE COFFEE (!!!!) and lotsa other junk.

We were supposed to reach Ipoh before 12pm so that we could catch the dim sum in time (we heard it’s good), sadly you know it’s typical; Malaysian timing, procrastination and what not.

So yes.

We missed the Dim Sum.

Okay let’s begin with Ipoh Hua Nam Restaurant (coffee shop, kopitiam) located in downtown Ipoh at Jalan Leong Sin Nam, Ipoh, perpendicular to the popular Ming Court dim sum restaurant.
.
.

.
.
In my honest opinion, this is by far the best Prawn Mee I’ve ever eaten! Mom, Dad and Lynn agreed so too! The soup was tasty, just nice and right. The noodles were equally as good. The only thing questionable here is the size of the “prawns”. I have to admit, the shrimps were rather small.

The Prawn Mee in small costs only RM3.00, while in big it costs RM3.50. In KL, there’s no such cheap prices anymore!

Overall, I rate this Prawn Mee from Ipoh Hua Nam Kopitiam an 8.5/10.
.
.

.
.
Sorry, the white coffee was THAT good till I immediately drank it before taking a good shot of it.

In Hua Nam Kopitiam here, you HAVE to try out their Ipoh White Coffee, be it you’re a coffee lover, or not. You just HAVE to try it. It’s worth a try.

It only costs RM 1.40. And I’d rate it a 9/10 coffee, seriously!

Why are things in Ipoh so cheaaaap! I can eat like crazy! Here in KL/Subang, Old Town white coffee is like TRIPLE the price of in Ipoh! This is so unfair.

Next destination.
.
.

.
.
Sin Hong Kee Kopitiam (coffee shop/restaurant) located along the same street as Hua Nam Kopitiam, at Jalan Leong Sin Nam, Ipoh. It’s just a few lots down Hua Nam.

Mom and I saw this there:

.
.
So we thought of trying it out, cos we were expecting something new as there’s no such noodles called “Hor Hee” in KL.

To our disappointment, this was what Hor Hee was:
.
.

.
.
….the standard fisball noodle soup! Really nothing to shout about it though. Just that I suppose I learned a new term for it; Hor Hee. RM3.50 for this noodles, and I’ld rate it a 4/10, sorry.

Okay, next destination!
.
.

.
.
Ipoh Nam Heong Dim Sum Restaurant is located along Jalan Bandar Timah, not too far away from Hua Nam Kopitiam and Ming Court dim sum restaurant though.

It is said to have really good dim sum for roughly about only RM.2.80 per basket. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to dipped in the dimsum as we were about to head to Penang already.

So we bought some Egg Tarts and Siew Paos as snacks in the car during our journey to Penang.
.
.

.
.
Frankly speaking, also nothing to shout about their egg tarts and siew paos. I wouldn’t consider those as one of the best egg tarts or whatsoever. And oh, it’s RM1.40 per tart.

I have to admit that John King tarts are hands down way much better and tastier.

Okay, moving on. Last destination before we really head off to Penang.
.
.

.
.
Ipoh Yat Yat Seng Restaurant (kopitiam/coffee shop) is located in Taman Ipoh, at Jalan Dato Lau Pak Khuan.

Yat Yat Seng is said to be famous for their Ipoh Hor Fun and their curry noodles. We tried out their Ipoh Hor Fun.
.
.

.
.
I didn’t mean to emphasize on the size of the shrimps *laughs*

Well it’s not that tiny anyways. Just not huge. We arrived there pretty late, it was close to evening already, so we didn’t have much choices of noodles left (that good sales huh).

The Ipoh Hor Fun was really tasty, the soup was nice. Only I suppose maybe the aftertaste was a little sweet, the soup I meant. The chicken shreds were soft and just right. Overall, it’s good and I rate it a 7/10.

We also ordered another cup of white coffee here in Yat Yat Seng.
.
.

.
.
The Ipoh White Coffee in Yat Yat Seng was not too bad, but not as good as the one in Hua Nam Restaurant. The price of it is only RM1.40.

I would rate it 8/10.

Besides that, we also tried this dessert out.
.
.

.
.
What I can tell you honestly is that the pudding was not too hard, neither too soft. Good in sense of texture. But I myself am not quite a fan of caramel and very-sweet-stuffs, so this caramel custard pudding was not my type of dessert, I have to say.

Nevertheless, if you are a caramel lover, it’s worth a try.

And that was our last bite before we seriously headed off to Penang. I will continue this vacation post the next time with Part 2, and more and more pictures!

Here’s a photo of me and daddy while mom stopped by the restroom. To come and think of it, Daddy and I haven’t snapped photos together in quite a long time.
.
.

.
.
Alright all, time for a shower.

p/s: Penang has more food, and cheaper!

Stay tuned.

Yours truly,
Cheryl, should I cut my hair? Or leave it long? Dilemma dilemma *sigh*

If you have been ranting and complaining a lot on how inconvenient services are here in Malaysia, fret no more, because with EOE Online Photo Printing services,

it’s MADE easy! And it really is THAT easy!
.

.
.
Okay.

What is EOE Online?
It is an online website which provides services such as photo printing. Apart from that, you can shop online at eoe.com.my for products such as analogue cameras, camera accessories, digital cameras, video cameras, MP3/MP4 players, photo frames and others!
.
.
.
Is there a promotion going on now?
You bet’cha!

4R prints are only at RM 0.30 each, and 5R prints at RM 0.50 each! Plus, you get a free delivery if your order is RM35.00 and above!

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? (!!!)
.
.
How to print photos through EOE Online Photo Printing Service?
Trust me, I kid you not. It only takes 3 simple steps. Even before finishing your cup of coffee or perhaps chewing on that tuna sandwich of yours for breakfast, the next thing you know, your photos are already ready for printing!

Upload options, 2 (very convenient) ways:

So it’s that simple. You choose an upload option. Upload your photos that you wish to print. Then select your print size. And you’re done (: Talk about convenience aye *smiles*
.
.
.
Any useful tips to this online service?
Yup. Read the following:

That’s right people. I’d suggest you register first (it took me less than 2 minutes), then only upload your photos.

And if your Internet connection is well known to be the typical piece-of-crappy-unstable-connection, worry not as you will be able to continue with your order once you have re-login.
.
.
.
Printing Rates and Delivery Rates?

.
.
.
And based on my experience using EOE Online Printing, I wish to share the…

Benefits of using EOE Online Photo Printing Service:
1) I saved a lot of time travelling to my usual photo printing shop, not to mention, you save on petrol and parking fees too!

2) I need not worry about having my thumb drives or camera memory card being corrupted or infected by viruses thanks to the photo printing shops’ computers. (pfft)

3) EOE Online photo printing service is user friendly and convenient. Just a few clicks and it’s done.
.
.
And for the other benefits, I have to leave that to you to find out yourself!

And now’s the best time to try out EOE Online’s service, because a great promotion is going on. With each 4R print at only RM0.30 (current promotion) and free delivery* for orders above RM35.00, you’ll get your money worth!

Experience the convenience ;)

-by Cheryl Ho.
.

******************************************************************************
UPDATE:

You will know believe how efficient EOE Online is, seriously!

I have sent my 50 photos for their printing, and it took ONLY 3 DAYS to arrive neatly and in perfect condition to my stated billing address through SKYNET! (Now we all know SkyNet is nevertheless one of the best and fastest courier services)
.
.

.
.

.
.
I can tell you from a customer’s perspective and point of view on EOE Online’s printing service is that EOE proves itself as the best choice/option in photo printing services.

When delivering my photos over to me, EOE Online made sure that all photos are in one hundred and one percent perfect condition. They had neatly wrapped up my two photo albums before couriering it in order to guarantee the conditions of the photos.

On printing quality wise, I must frankly admit that this is by far one of the best that I have gotten compared to many other photo printing shops that I have went before. The colours appear nearly exact to what my computer screen shows (if you print photos often and in photographic studies, you should know that it is never possible to get 100% exact colours, the closest is always a 99% due to different photo papers and inks in machines being used). Thus, I would have to rate a full score of 10/10 on EOE Online’s photo printing colour quality.
.
.
Plus, from my photo above, you can see that my photos are all arranged neatly inside the two photo albums. Yeap, it’s all done by EOE Online. Needless to say, which printing shop would have done it for you? Most of them would only chuck your photos into a transparent plastic bag and pass along two photo albums for you to arrange them inside yourself.

Imagine 50 photos, that would take up a lot of time to arrange one by one. Hence, time saving yet again by EOE Online. ;)

And next, I HAVE to give it to EOE Online on this point, that even while they were arranging my photos for me into the albums, I have checked all my 50 photos for any thumbprint marks. And there were none!

Please mind you, this is because I am very particular of my photos, and having thumbprint marks all over my photos really puts me off. In most photo printing shops that I have went so far, without fail I would at least receive one thumbprint mark. *Grrrr*

So yeah, EOE Online gains a plus point to that.
.
.
Here’s something to share with all of you.

EOE Online has now launched the 2nd Blogger’s Review Program. Click Here

They will be offering 50 4R prints for Free and they have now UPGRADED the grand prize to an Olympus E-520 kit with a 14-42mm lens worth RM2499.00!

It’s true! I’ve already gotten my FREE 50 4R prints as you can see above, so don’t worry, it’s not a scam or con. *laughs*

Okay so if you’re a blogger and have some photos that you want to print, then why wait? Quick send in your reviews to EOE Online. Only 100 entries allocated.
.
.
p/s: I would like to clarify that although yes, true enough that I’m being rewarded with this review, but every points that I have said on EOE Online’s service is by far TRUE, and no exaggeration included. Go try it yourself and you know that I’ve assured you my words.

;)

So in conclusion, EOE Online Photo Printing Service is awesome, convenient, made easy, and quality assured!
