Dear All,

How do you like my new layout? Smooth? Well I’m still working on it for better changes, spare me lil bit more. And it’s 5 in the morning now. I did not just wake up, I just haven’t went to bed.
.
.
I had a fantastic outing with Jewin, the so called useless “boyfriend”, and Jitz, my Ah Seng. *laughs* :D

I can’t believe the three of us actually drove down all the way to Ikea just for Ikea food. Yeah I’m serious, we didnt buy no shits from Ikea except food.

Oh okaaay la, Jitz bought two flower watering cans for his mommy. Thanks to that, I’ve gotten a free carpark at Ikea too! Call me cheap whatever, in my language it’s called rationally budget. HAHA

Unfortunately Gillie couldn’t tag along with us today.

The three of us decided to yamcha at SS2 after Ikea food. Settled down at this place called Island Cafe. While Jewin was in the midst of telling his story, suddenly *PAAAAPP*.

Something fell from top and landed right on his cap, which he was wearing, of course.

Guess what was it?

?????

A cockroach. Big flying cockroach. A fucking. BIG. flying. cockroach.

And the moment we settled down from that horrible “tragedy”, *PAAAAAAP*, yet again.

The cockroach landed on the partition on my left, which was just about 2cm away from me, and height exactly just above my head when I’m seated on the chair.

I’ve never heard myself screamed thaaaaat loud, and jumped that high and fast away from anything.

After that second horrible “tragedy”, I swore to God that if I had my camera along with me, I would snap a real good photo of the cockroach posing in that restaurant, and make a GOOOOD review out of it for them, hence publish on World Wide Web and share this with all the food review bloggers.

Pfft.

Okay, that has nothing to do with my title of this post today.
.
.
Now, on appreciations.

Is it only my curiousity, or do others also question the same?

When I was a little girl, I remembered asking Mommy,

“Does someone have to die to be remembered and appreciated?”

“No, silly, why would you ask?”

“Then why famous painters like Leonardo da Vinci was never famous during his living years and his works were only appreciated and worth millions after his death?”
.
.
Is it actually human nature to not appreciate something? Or are we just freely accusing human nature just so someone or something could take this blame?

Why do people have to lose something, only then to realize the lost and the appreciation that should have been given not only after death?

I wish some people would learn to see with their heart, and not just with their bare eyes. If one tries so hard to grab hold of this another one and only to cause losses of all his/her other beloveds, what worth does it make?

I myself do not want to learn this the hard way.
I myself want to assure myself that I see with my heart, and not just with my bare eyes.

I believe the quote that says, “Do not believe what you see, believe what you feel”.

Do you?
.
.
I don’t know if Daddy and Mommy are reading this. I want them to know that I appreciate them a whole lot. As years go by, and I grow maturedly older, I learned to appreciate more. I’ve learnt to undestand that what they do is because they love me. Everything they do for me is because they care for me. They love me and care for me with their sincere hearts.

I am not a daddy’s girl. Neither am I a mommy’s girl.

I once read that one could only choose to be either a daddy’s girl or a mommy’s girl. One can never be both.

Well I’m neither one. Neither both. Does that make me a terrible daughter? I am starting to wonder if I could have been better. If I could, could I still have been myself? If I could, could have things been better then? Or just even more terribly different?

I know my sister Lynn reads my blog. And I respect her not only because she is my elder sister, but because of a woman she has turned into, a person with great responsibilities, always with a positive mind, never giving up in supporting me, and the success and happiness she has brought not only into her life, but also in mine and in the family.

I still wish that I could be both daddy’s and mommy’s girl. Till no matter how big I grow, or how old I turn into, I still want to be a daddy’s girl and a mommy’s girl. I will never want to let them go.

The scar left in me in the past is not forgotten, but it is forgiven. Though it may not ever be the same anymore now, but I hope I am too forgiven for all the scars I left in you.

I hope I never really had disappointed you much as a daughter.
.
.
Some people must learn to appreciate; To appreciate what they already have, and not to neglect what they already have only to ask for more.

Have you not thought about those less fortunate than yourself?

People have to first learn to appreciate themselves; To learn to love themselves. Because without doing so, you are no human worth any elses’ love.

We have to learn to appreciate. Appreciate things that we have. Appreciate the people who love and cherish us. Appreciate the friends who are true. Appreciate what God has given.

And I myself hope that as far till now, I at least have quite a clear picture of what appreciation is.

Though there might be some more room for improvements and knowledge right there, but I suppose I had a good start. At least I did not have to learn it the very hard way.
.
.
*Breathes*
I cannot believe I typed for an hour. Well though not a very long post, I suppose those weren’t very easy words to come out with. Most importantly, I meant every word I said.

And now, I suppose I learnt that it’s time I appreciate a good night’s sleep and not a morning’s sleep. And tonight with Jitz and Jewin, I appreciated the times we friends spent together.
.
.
Yours truly,
Cheryl, FAMILY; Father And Mother (and Lynn) I Love You.

My most anticipated post to write on!

THE BEST CHAR KUEY TEOW IN PENANG!
Kafe Heng Huat is located at Lorong Selamat, Georgetown, Penang. The whole Heng Huat shoplot there sells one and only one food, Char Kuey Teow! And it’s the best!
.
.

(boh hiam = non-spicy)

.
.
This Char Kuey Teow from Heng Huat Kafe has very very big prawns! Cooked perfectly. The taste is just simply excellent and the best Char Kuey Teow that I’ve ever eater. The noodles are also very nice, not too starchy, not too dry and not too oily. Everything was simply perfect!
.
.

.
.
And now introducing the legend behind this awesome char kuey teow…..
.
.

.
.
When you mention the name AUNTY GOGGLES, everyone knows that you’re talking about the BEST CHAR KUEY TEOW in Penang. *laughs*

You see, when we got there that day, we were super early. Like the second customers. She was only just about to open up her shop. Well thankfully we were there earlier, because within 30mins after us, it was already full house and the queue was crazy!

You know Batman, when he doesn’t wear his mask, he’s just an ordinary man. Everyone knows him only by the name of Bruce when without his mask. Without his Batman outfit, neither will anyone know he is Batman.

Same same like Aunty Goggles.

When we arrived early there that day, there were a few Aunties in the shop. We couldn’t guess which one was her. All we heard about her is that she is very fierce (hahah). So we kept on guessing, “Eh nono.. maybe it’s that one”, “Eh maybe THAT one!”

On and on we went…

Until……

That one Aunty who walked over to the table, grabbed up an apron, a red towel, and YELLOW GOGGLES!

Only then we knew, THAT IS OUR SUPERHERO! AUNTY GOGGLES!

Waahahaha.

Same same like Batman right. See I told you. (:

Aunty Goggles is a legend lah seriously. Her char kuey teow is RM6 for the small plate. Although much more pricy than normal Char Kuey Teows, but it’s definitely worth the price you’re paying for. Remember the huge prawns *grins*

If you’re in Penang, you must go to LORONG SELAMAT okay!

Aaron Ho Chun Hoe! If you’re really heading down to Penang on Monday, sorry weh I cannot follow you. But you better eat Char Kuey Teow in Lorong Selamat or not I won’t admit you’re my cousin! :P *laughs*
.
.
And to end this post, here are some random beach photos.
.
.

.
.

.
.
Yay! I’m finally done with all my Penang pics and posts.

I can now move on with LANGKAWI! Hahahahaha I know, my holiday trip photos this time seems to be never ending right. Too bad, you still have to read it. :P

Imma head to Pyramid in a while for some job interview, then meeting up Jitz and Jewin for IKEA FOOOOOOOD! Yaaaay! RM2 Hotdog, Bottomless drinks, Daim cake, Chicken Wings, MEATBALLS!

:D

Gotta roll. Bathe and get dressed up.

And oh, p/s: I’ve updated RylDesigns.com and now my Catalogue is ready. You guys can come visit and check it out, now customizations are available! ;)

Laters.
.
.
Yours truly,
Cheryl, Ikea ikea ikea ikea!.

As promised, the updates on PENANG FOOD!!!

First off, I have a three statements on Penang Food:

1. Penang food is bloody arse cheap as compared to KL
2. Penang food is frik’n good and tasty
3. Penang food makes you very very fat

Before I left for this holiday from home, my whole family weighed ourselves. You know like the initial weight and after weight test thing.

Yeah.

SHIT YOU KNOW HOW MUCH WEIGHT I GAIN????

You don’t wanna know. Sigh..

Now, on the very tasty but fattening food.
.
.

.
.

.
.
Although as most would know that Wan Tan Mee is not one of Penang’s specialties, but I was told my Aunty Khoo (Iwan’s mom) that I HAVE to try this Wan Tan Mee along Chulia Street, Georgetown, Penang.

IMHO, the wan tan mee noodles are nice, comparable to my all-time favourite Wan Tan Mee from Leong Kee Noodle House in USJ10 Taipan. Only I would note that the char siew is nothing to shout about, though the fried wan tan is actually pretty good.

The small plate costs only RM2.80, while the big plate cos RM3.30. Cheaper than KL/Subang, yet again!

Overall, I would rate this a 8/10.

Okay next.
.
.

.
.
Genting Restaurant is the corner shoplot of Lorong Delima 6 and Lorong Delima 3, Georgetown, Penang (opposite the Hamid Khan School Field).

I can safely say that nearly ALL the food in Genting Restaurant is a thumbs up!

Starting off with the most famous Chee Cheong Fun in Genting Restaurant:
.
.

.
.

.
.
Frankly, my sister is not a fan of chee cheong fun at all. She usually doesn’t eat them. But when she ate this Chee Cheong Fun from Genting Restaurant, it was as though she found gold. She couldn’t stop eating!

Hahah, well according to her, it is damn tasty and it’s the best Chee Cheong Fun ever.

Though I myself eat chee cheong funs normally, however I didn’t quite the different taste of the Chee Cheong Fun from Genting Restaurant. I would say that it’s quite an acquired taste. The sauce is like no other, it’s very different. Perhaps I am not used to it.

But since this is the most famous Chee Cheong Fun in Penang, I have to recommend it to you guys.

Small plate is only RM1.70, and the big plate is at RM2.5.

Next food.
.
.

.
.
This Penang Prawn Mee from Genting Restaurant is pretty good. And it’s cheap too. :D Though it is tasty, I must admit that it is still incomparable to Ipoh’s Prawn Mee from Hua Nam Restaurant (which I’ve posted in part1).

However overall, I would rate this a 7/10.
.
.

.
.
Although this is not the best Char Kuey Teow in Penang, but it taste not too bad. This Char Kuey Teow from Genting Restaurant costs only RM3.00 for normal egg, and RM3.30 for duck egg.

According to mom, duck egg is much tastier. And truth being told, I have to agree with mom! This char kuey teow is still worth a try.

I would rate it a 7.5/10.
.
.

.
.
If you are regular readers of cherylho.net, you should know that I do not eat Asam Laksa.

But I just have to review on this Asam Laksa, because even my mom who HATES asam laksa ate 2 bowls of Asam Laksa from Genting Restaurant, and she loved it.

Nick and Mom said it’s the BEST Asam Laksa, and all other asam laksas in Subang or KL or wherever, is incomparable to this asam laksa. *laughs*

Well since I didn’t eat this, but I’m guessing Nick would have rated it a 9.5/10!

If you’re a laksa fan, try it!
.
.

.
.
Now, Curry Mee. The Curry Mee from Genting Restaurant is totally not recommendable, I must say. Even Daddy didn’t finish up his bowl. He said it is not tasty, and the curry is quite choky.

Sorry to say, but this curry mee has to fall under the rating of 2/10.

And just outside of Genting Restaurant, there’s this Uncle who sells Muar Chee. It’s pretty good.
.
.

.
.

.
.
One thing nice about his Muar Chee is that he cuts the pieces into really small ones, making it easier to chew and swallow on. His peanut dressings taste just nice, not too sweet, and not too tasteless.

If I’m not wrong, it’s RM1.40.
.
.
I think I’m gonna stop here for now. I have another section of food pics in Penang to post up. The best Char Kuey Teow in Penang is gonna lay in that Part 4 post.

Stay tuned. ;)

Hellooo! I’m back with Part 2.

And Part 2 shall be a Non-Food post. As much as I myself wanna share with all of you how good Penang food is, but that should come in Part 3.

So, in Penang, we visited Iwan and his family, who were staying Parkroyal Hotel.
.
.

.
.
Parkroyal was pretty. So was the beach. Well the beach at my hotel ain’t that bad either tho.
.
.

.
.

.
.
Feringghi, Penang is well known for its watersports. The beach at Parkroyal had quite a number of watersports as well. One of which I would love to try most is Parasailing!

DAMN COOOOOL LAAA!

*though I’m quite afraid of heights *chuckles*
.
.

.
.
Parasailing… I suppose is a combination of Parachuting and Sailing? Cos yeah obvious enough, it’s a parachute, and it’s driven by a motor boat (or I dunno what boat). *laughs*

Whatever. It looks like real fun.

.
.

.
.
But well I didn’t get to experience the fun (or fear). Cos we were about to head for more Penang food at that time. :(
.
.

.
.
Some glowing pinkish reddish flower I captured around Parkroyal beach. *laughs*

Anyways, I often wonder, how do parents handle their little ones (kids) when they drive all around Penang for food, eat in dirty hawker stalls, under hot weather and what not?

I mean, if I was still a kid, I wouldn’t consider all those FUN and interesting to me. What more the dirtyness, hot weather and great penang food but mommy doesn’t allow me to eat?

Not fun at all.

So then I found out, Parkroyal has this Cafe/Club thing, called Cool Banana.
.
.

.
.
Cool Banana is not only meant for kids, it’s also a cafe which serves food and drinks. The thing is, Cool Banana has this kids area and kids club where parents can “dump” their kids there for “babysitting” (more or less) while the parents go for food hunting the entire day.

Not cool enough?
.
.

.
.
PS2 is a good Shut-Up-And-Stay-Still-Medicine for kids.
.
.

.
.
Tsk tsk. I think I’ve learnt something useful on kids today *laughs*

Alright. I should stop. I must catch up with Jitz. He’s trying to be a superhero today, speeding the entries like crazy. He’s putting me in deep shit. Hahah

Part 3 next.

Laters.

Yours truly,
Cheryl, I feel IndoMee today.

Oh my!

How I’ve missed all of you and my dear blog so. *grins*

I’m back from vacation, and I have so much to share! I’m getting all excited, for God knows why. Not quite a big deal anyways.

Well who’s up for some food? The clock’s hitting one now, it’s close to lunch time, which I haven’t had mine yet. I’m starving. But who cares? Scratch that, I’m gonna post on all the food I had in Ipoh!

So as you know, my family and I stopped by Ipoh before reaching Penang as we were coming from KL to satisfy our grumbling tummies at that time with some Ipoh Prawn Mee, WHITE COFFEE (!!!!) and lotsa other junk.

We were supposed to reach Ipoh before 12pm so that we could catch the dim sum in time (we heard it’s good), sadly you know it’s typical; Malaysian timing, procrastination and what not.

So yes.

We missed the Dim Sum.

Okay let’s begin with Ipoh Hua Nam Restaurant (coffee shop, kopitiam) located in downtown Ipoh at Jalan Leong Sin Nam, Ipoh, perpendicular to the popular Ming Court dim sum restaurant.
.
.

.
.
In my honest opinion, this is by far the best Prawn Mee I’ve ever eaten! Mom, Dad and Lynn agreed so too! The soup was tasty, just nice and right. The noodles were equally as good. The only thing questionable here is the size of the “prawns”. I have to admit, the shrimps were rather small.

The Prawn Mee in small costs only RM3.00, while in big it costs RM3.50. In KL, there’s no such cheap prices anymore!

Overall, I rate this Prawn Mee from Ipoh Hua Nam Kopitiam an 8.5/10.
.
.

.
.
Sorry, the white coffee was THAT good till I immediately drank it before taking a good shot of it.

In Hua Nam Kopitiam here, you HAVE to try out their Ipoh White Coffee, be it you’re a coffee lover, or not. You just HAVE to try it. It’s worth a try.

It only costs RM 1.40. And I’d rate it a 9/10 coffee, seriously!

Why are things in Ipoh so cheaaaap! I can eat like crazy! Here in KL/Subang, Old Town white coffee is like TRIPLE the price of in Ipoh! This is so unfair.

Next destination.
.
.

.
.
Sin Hong Kee Kopitiam (coffee shop/restaurant) located along the same street as Hua Nam Kopitiam, at Jalan Leong Sin Nam, Ipoh. It’s just a few lots down Hua Nam.

Mom and I saw this there:

.
.
So we thought of trying it out, cos we were expecting something new as there’s no such noodles called “Hor Hee” in KL.

To our disappointment, this was what Hor Hee was:
.
.

.
.
….the standard fisball noodle soup! Really nothing to shout about it though. Just that I suppose I learned a new term for it; Hor Hee. RM3.50 for this noodles, and I’ld rate it a 4/10, sorry.

Okay, next destination!
.
.

.
.
Ipoh Nam Heong Dim Sum Restaurant is located along Jalan Bandar Timah, not too far away from Hua Nam Kopitiam and Ming Court dim sum restaurant though.

It is said to have really good dim sum for roughly about only RM.2.80 per basket. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to dipped in the dimsum as we were about to head to Penang already.

So we bought some Egg Tarts and Siew Paos as snacks in the car during our journey to Penang.
.
.

.
.
Frankly speaking, also nothing to shout about their egg tarts and siew paos. I wouldn’t consider those as one of the best egg tarts or whatsoever. And oh, it’s RM1.40 per tart.

I have to admit that John King tarts are hands down way much better and tastier.

Okay, moving on. Last destination before we really head off to Penang.
.
.

.
.
Ipoh Yat Yat Seng Restaurant (kopitiam/coffee shop) is located in Taman Ipoh, at Jalan Dato Lau Pak Khuan.

Yat Yat Seng is said to be famous for their Ipoh Hor Fun and their curry noodles. We tried out their Ipoh Hor Fun.
.
.

.
.
I didn’t mean to emphasize on the size of the shrimps *laughs*

Well it’s not that tiny anyways. Just not huge. We arrived there pretty late, it was close to evening already, so we didn’t have much choices of noodles left (that good sales huh).

The Ipoh Hor Fun was really tasty, the soup was nice. Only I suppose maybe the aftertaste was a little sweet, the soup I meant. The chicken shreds were soft and just right. Overall, it’s good and I rate it a 7/10.

We also ordered another cup of white coffee here in Yat Yat Seng.
.
.

.
.
The Ipoh White Coffee in Yat Yat Seng was not too bad, but not as good as the one in Hua Nam Restaurant. The price of it is only RM1.40.

I would rate it 8/10.

Besides that, we also tried this dessert out.
.
.

.
.
What I can tell you honestly is that the pudding was not too hard, neither too soft. Good in sense of texture. But I myself am not quite a fan of caramel and very-sweet-stuffs, so this caramel custard pudding was not my type of dessert, I have to say.

Nevertheless, if you are a caramel lover, it’s worth a try.

And that was our last bite before we seriously headed off to Penang. I will continue this vacation post the next time with Part 2, and more and more pictures!

Here’s a photo of me and daddy while mom stopped by the restroom. To come and think of it, Daddy and I haven’t snapped photos together in quite a long time.
.
.

.
.
Alright all, time for a shower.

p/s: Penang has more food, and cheaper!

Stay tuned.

Yours truly,
Cheryl, should I cut my hair? Or leave it long? Dilemma dilemma *sigh*
