My 18th Celebration Part 1

Another year older.

Birthdays don’t seem very exciting and special for me anymore. My friends seemed more excited and happier than I myself actually was. Perhaps it’s the fear of getting old. And having to grow up even more. In a few years time, I’ll be graduating. Working. Paying taxes and loans and what not.

Okay fine. Maybe I’m just overloaded with stress lately.

Anyways, I still had heaps of fun celebrating my 18th birthday 3 days ago (Saturday, on the eve of my birthday) with my friends.

On the late morning of the eve of my birthday, my two best friends, Bren and Mich and myself went to RedBox carry-o-kee (karaoke. i just love how the americans pronounce it as such) to have some fun since we’ve not gone there for quite a while.

I was damn frik’n surprised and happy when they presented me a birthday gift. I really wasn’t and didn’t expect anything this year, and I considered their presence that entire day out with me as my biggest birthday gift.

Bren and Mich bought me my usual makeup. Christian Dior’s Mascara Diorshow, and Dior’s Pencil Eyeliner. I was very happy because my Dior mascara and eyeliner just finished recently. Although I restocked myself with a new Mavala mascara just a few days ago, I’m still very happy with the gift.

In fact, I think I was THAT surprised and happy until I think I didn’t give much expressions or response. Sorry lah wehh. I was surprised. Honestly.

Carry-o-kee with my two best friends is always fun. We do the usuals. Get crazy and retarded. We practically chose songs that could kill our throats and lungs. But we didn’t give shits anyways.

I chose one particular song that I knew was crazy but really funny when we tried to sing it; Soulja Boy’s Crank That.

Hahahahaha!

After Soulja Boy, we seriously lost our voices. Especially Michelle. It was either the excessive extreme laughters, or we literally screamed, not sing.

And not forgetting our carry-o-kee tradition, we sang Spice Girl’s Wannabe. We call it the Tripod song. We always sing Wannabe everytime we go for carry-o-kees. Without fail. Call us gay, but if you wanna be our lovers, you gotta get with our friends! Haahahah okay I know, gay.

After 2 long hours of singing (or screaming), we were pooped. I dropped them both back home over to Mich’s place and went home to take a short nap before I had to get ready for dinner that night with my other friends.

Guess where I went and celebrate with my other friends for dinner?

I KNOW RIGHTTTTTTT

Like I’ve been wanting to go to Palate Palette since years ago. Well not literally. I really really wanted to try Palate Palette out since months ago. And I finally did!

I’m damn happy weh!

And as most of my friends would know, I pronounce Palate Palette in my own different way which annoys many people; Pala Pala Teh Teh. My friends were very annoyed with how I pronounced it as it was supposed to be pronounced as Palate Palette (both are the same pronunciations). They looked like they wanted to throw shoes and forks at my face.

You know, Palate Palette is one hell of a not-so-easy-to-find-restaurant. Seriously. You won’t want to know how we got ourselves lost that night! I made a reservation at 7:30pm, and thanks to getting lost, I had to call and extend my reservation to 8:30pm.

My suggestion if you are really interested to go to Pala Pala Teh Teh, remember to MEMORIZE exactly the map of how to get there.

Because even with my GPS, we eventually still got lost.

Okay, the story is like this. I clearly know exactly how to get to the area of where Palate Palette is at in Kuala Lumpur. Jalan Mesui. I drove pass Times Square and Bukit Bintang and all. I took the immediate left turning after McDonalds. Then I went straight downhill and took a right turning after that. And at that moment, Gypsy (GPS) told me on her face that I should turn left in 110metres away.

Manatau, Gypsy was lagging.

Happy.

So instead of taking the correct left turning which was the first one, I took the second left turning which was wrong, and which, I THOUGHT would be correct if it really was 110metres away.

Pfft.

So that wrong left turning took us to God knows where. We literally drove in circles and in the end only to find out that if Gypsy did not lag at the wrong time, and we would have took the correct left turning in the first place, we are exactly at where Palate Palette is. At Jalan Mesui at that left turning.

One thing I like about Palate Palette is because of its very artistic and unique interior and decos. It gives a very artsy feeling. I like.

The food there is not too bad. I wouldn’t say it is fantastic, but it is not bad at all. I think the price is also quite reasonable for a happening KL restaurant. All in all, it’s good. Except for the finding-our-way-there-part.

I ordered Fish & Chips, which came with potato and yam chips. I can’t really recall what the others ordered, but I know Michelle got herself Salad, and Bren ordered Lasagna (i think).

After dinner, the guys wanted to have some drinks. Well due to some miscommunications and misunderstandings, we ended up in Planet Hollywood. Just for a short while. They had one shisha, and decided to just buy some beer and bump over to Tim’s place and chill.

Since Bren and I are not quite fans of beer, we stopped by Starbucks (!!!!!!!!) in Taipan and satisfy ourselves with our favourite coffees. Yummmmm (:

In Tim’s house, some of us gambled playing 21, and Jian was making big bucks. Hahah..

Okay most importantly, thank you to all my friends who celebrated my birthday with me although I know some of them are having exams soon. Damn touched seriously.

Wahhhh. I just realized. I have quite a number of friends who are in overseas. Why so sad wan!! Everybody is going away! =(

I have Part 2 coming up. That is with my family. Hehh.. told you it was gonna be a long post.

Anyway, I have Typography test tomorrow, and I’ve been doing pictures and blogging the entire night, I haven’t layed a fingerprint on my revision yet. But I’m quite familiar with Typography already. Should I still read up? The thing is, today I played 2 and a half long hours of badminton non-stop with my coll mates in the afternoon. So I’m dead tired by now. My left eye is already half-shutting.

Ugh.

And why is the weather so hot nowadays!!
